Spalicious - Full Post

First of all, I'd like to note that I have some crazy talented friends.

This party was thrown by three amazing mommies for their daughters - all of the girls were turning 6 and shared the same birthday month...and what better way to celebrate than treating the girls to a SPA party!
By combining their guest list, talents and resources, they were able to throw an awesome, memorable event for their girls in one of their homes and not break the bank - brilliant.

The moms enlisted a couple of the girls' dearly loved Sunday school teachers as 'helpers' at the different stations [foot massage/pedicure, manicures, hair, decorating their own slippers] and some of the moms also pitched in to pamper the daughters. On my end, I couldn't stop smiling at all the little details that they put into the party...from the little nail dryers to the white bathrobes, it was all perfect.

To three special little girls - who are really not so little any more - you are dearly loved~

Enjoy~

One year ago

IMG_3638 WM

One year ago today, Japan suffered twin disasters...a 9.0 earthquake followed by a devastating tsunami.
I remember sitting on my couch with my laptop when the news broke.
Unbelievable.

I am Japanese-American and most of my relatives are still in Japan...some were in Sendai and Tokyo, cities where the quake and tsunami were most felt. Thankfully, they were all shaken but unharmed.

Japan is still in the throes of rebuilding their cities, but I can imagine that the psychological trauma from such a disaster will take much more time...I am amazed at the resilience of the Japanese people and their quiet determination to forge ahead.
Here are some amazing 'before and after' captures of the rebuilding process...

And because no post is complete without some photos, here are some images I took last summer with my own family in the WA coast...
Looking through these reminded me of the awesome force of the ocean...so beautiful to look at and vacation by, but also capable of immense destruction... and ultimately was reminded to cherish those I love and enjoy every moment of life given to us..it is truly a gift not to be wasted.

J&S Lee Family Session - Full Post

I loved this session...
(yes, I admit I probably say this about every session..)
But when you have a beautiful family in a field of flowers, my heart skips a beat!
Yuri was all smiles and had no problem sitting in the middle of flowers twice her size...I especially loved watching her interact with her daddy and mommy...such pure joy and affection on her face~
Thank you to Joon and Selly for running around a flower field that day, and Happy First Birthday to little Yuri!

Enjoy~

Note: For those looking for mustard flower fields, this session was shot at Abalone Cove Shoreline Park in Palos Verdes. They periodically mow the flower fields down when they get too high, so I recommend calling them beforehand to make sure the fields are intact. Another place I would check out is Fred Hesse Jr. Community Park in Palos Verdes - I did see some yellow flowers there as well. Happy shooting!
