A New Perspective

"Children need to be enjoyed and valued, not managed.

We often focus on the problems of life rather than on the possibilities for enjoyment and learning available to us.

When we are too busy doing things for our children,
we forget how important it is to simply be with them."

- from "Parenting from the Inside Out" (Siegel, Hartzell)

What a heart check this was for me.
I hope this encourages other moms and dads out there~
p.s. Highly recommend this book!!

Family walk

An evening walk down the street to our neighborhood park...sometimes we can catch a softball or soccer game in progress which Naomi really loves.
Noelle, our professional roamer, enjoyed playing with the leaves and walking where ever her little heart desired.
Nice to have a simple family walk, must do this more often!

Happiness is...

... a free doughnut PLUS a hat at Krispy Kreme.

Naomi decided that she was now a pirate. A doughnut pirate. Is there really any other kind?
My favorite face is the last pic....her classic scowl but with a bit more intensity. (Naturally, because pirates are intense. Duh mommy.)

The beginnings of Fall

Fall is my favorite time of year and this is probably when I miss Seattle the most.

Back in Seattle, I loved watching the leaves turn color and fall by the bagfuls. Loved the reliable rain and cold crisp air in the morning.

It's much different here in SoCal. Different but still beautiful in its own way... decided to capture these autumn moments as best I can these next several months, so this is one of many posts on Fall to come...

Right now, it's still warm enough to wear a summer dress and play in the leaves.

Baby Chub... my favorite.
Cankles, wrist chub, potbellies, and chipmunk cheeks, how I love you.

Our kids....

...will love what we love.
Well, maybe not always, but it would be awesome if our two girls shared some of our passions!

Anyways, I was secretly happy that Naomi asked to use our old camera to take some pictures.

She began by snapping a picture of each page (yes, EACH page) in her kid's Bible, and then of her favorite book, Curious George. She had a very serious expression the whole time.

I love this girl.
